Code of Conduct

PSSI’s Clean Talk Podcast recently hosted three senior PSSI team members to discuss the importance of PSSI’s code of conduct, and what it means to them. PSSI’s Code of Conduct articulates the organization’s values, and includes sections on ethical behavior, compliance, and accountability. The three guests spoke at length about how the Code of Conduct affects PSSI as a whole, as well as its influence on their day-to-day activities.

Senior Food Safety Director Amanda Friar said that the code of conduct establishes the standards of behaviors of PSSI and shows its commitment to ethics and professionalism both internally and externally. It provides clear expectations for ethical behavior. She added that it has a positive effect on PSSI internally, fostering integrity, respect, and fairness within the company. Amanda noted that she has received glowing feedback from customers about PSSI’s Code of Conduct, explaining that “they see our compliance journey as another value add that we provide to support and make sure that the business is done right.”

Vice President of Operations Mike Newland spoke about how the Code of Conduct ensures PSSI is legally and ethically compliant, and how it affects his team. He explained how it enhances personal accountability, while simultaneously empowering employees to report unethical behavior. Mike added that in addition to highlighting everyone’s compliance responsibilities, it also increased awareness of the reporting channels to address compliance concerns. He concluded by saying that our Code of Conduct “really sets us apart from the industry and our competitors,” adding that “it helps all facets of the business.”

Regional Sales Manager Rhonda Rainwater explained that strong compliance measures establish and build trust with PSSI’s customers, boosting their confidence in the company, saying “it shows we’ve done the heavy lifting.” This fosters customer confidence and builds loyalty. Rhonda explained that customers are extremely grateful and appreciative for PSSI’s raising the bar on industry standards.

Host Kevin O’Neill concluded by urging every listener to become well-acquainted with the Code of Conduct, and to stay compliant, safe and clean.
